Sold is what I am hoping to hear tomorrow after we show our house. I decided that baking cookies would not only make the house smell good, but maybe the potential buyers would be so overwhelmed with the cookie, that it would put them over the edge to buy the place.
I have the dough ready to go for tomorrow morning, but I baked a few off for taste test purposes.
2 sticks of butter, softened (if you use salted butter don’t add salt, if you use unsalted butter, add 1/4 tspn of sea salt to the mix)
1 cup of light brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 tbspn vanilla extract
1 capful of maple extract
1 capful of almond extract
pinch of nutmeg
2 pinches of cinnamon
1/4 tspn black pepper (Say what? Just trust me)
1 tspn of baking powder
1 tspn baking soda
2 and 1/4 cup flour
1/4 cup of dark chocolate, chocolate chips
4 squares of a really good dark chocolate, chopped
1/2 cup pecans, chopped
zest of half an orange
handful of dried cranberries
2 heaping spoonfuls of Nutella
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees
In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and the sugars until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, the extracts, the orange zest, the nutmeg, cinnamon, and pepper. If you are adding salt, this is when you would want to add it. Mix until the eggs are well incorporated. Mix in the flour, the baking powder, and baking soda. Fold in the remaining ingredients being careful not to completely mix in the Nutella as you want to see swirls of it in your cookies.
Bake in the oven on a Silpat lined (or parchment paper) cookie sheet for 8-10 minutes.
